Jackie

Jackie first discovered Glastonbury Festival in 2009, and it was love at first sight. But while the music, people and incredible atmosphere captured her heart, it was the festival’s artwork and creative side that truly made her fall in love with the place — and, in particular, the humble but much-loved bins

From that first visit, Jackie knew she wanted to give something back. She dreamed of becoming a bin painter, and in 2019 that dream became a reality

Now, every year, Jackie feels incredibly lucky to have the opportunity to paint as part of the Glastonbury build. She adores every day of it — being there from the build-up, watching the site come alive and knowing that, in her own small way, she is helping to make this extraordinary place look even more beautiful

One of the things Jackie treasures most is painting the charity bins. There is something incredibly special about sitting down with someone’s idea and having the privilege of bringing it to life through paint. She sees each one as far more than just a bin; they are a little piece of someone’s Glastonbury experience

There is a lovely full-circle feeling to it all. When Jackie first attended Glastonbury as a festival-goer, she donated for charity bins herself and was utterly excited to go on a ‘treasure hunt ‘ to find ‘her bin’ Today, she finds herself on the other side of that experience — helping to create those very special bins for someone else

For Jackie, it is an absolute honour and a genuine joy to sit, paint and enjoy the process. Five years in and she still adores every moment and feels incredibly grateful to be a tiny part of the huge team that brings Glastonbury to life
